Clean photos in one step
See what your photo reveals, remove it, and keep the image exactly as it was.
Lossless
The image data is copied byte for byte. It is never decoded or re-compressed, so quality cannot drop.
See what was found
Every photo lists what it contained, such as GPS location, camera model, software and dates.
Removes GPS
Take out the exact location a phone embeds, before you share a photo online.
Content credentials
Also removes embedded C2PA content credentials, XMP, IPTC, comments and PNG text chunks.
Batch and ZIP
Clean many photos at once and download them together as one ZIP file.
Private by design
Everything runs in your browser. Your photos never leave your device.
What gets removed
The kinds of hidden data inside image files, and what this tool does with each.
| Metadata | What it can reveal | This tool |
|---|---|---|
| EXIF | GPS location, camera and phone model, lens, serial number, date and time | Removed |
| XMP | Editing history, author, software, keywords | Removed |
| IPTC / Photoshop | Caption, credit, copyright, contact details | Removed |
| C2PA content credentials | Embedded record of the tools and edits used | Removed |
| JPEG comments, PNG text, PNG time | Free text, generator settings, last modified time | Removed |
| Color profile (ICC) | How colors should be displayed | Kept by default, so colors stay exact |
| Rotation | Which way the photo should be turned | Kept for JPEG by default |
How it works
Three steps, usually a few seconds.
Add photos
Drop JPG, PNG or WebP files on the box, or tap Choose images.
Check the list
Open Details on any photo to see exactly what hidden data it contained.
Download
Save each clean copy, or all of them as a ZIP. Files are named with -clean at the end.
Why remove photo metadata
A photo can say far more than the picture shows.
Protect your location
A phone photo can carry the exact coordinates of your home, school or office. Anyone who receives the original file can read them.
Hide device details
Camera model, lens and serial number can link photos to you, or reveal what equipment you own.
Selling and listings
Clean product photos before posting them to marketplaces, forums or your website.
Smaller files
Large metadata blocks add weight. Removing them saves a little space with no change to the picture.
Share with care
Email, messaging apps, cloud links and forums may pass metadata along. Cleaning first means you decide what leaves.
Publishing work
Remove editing notes, software names and internal comments before a photo goes public.
Why there is no quality loss
Most tools re-save the image. This one does not.
No decoding
The tool reads the file structure and removes only the metadata blocks. The compressed picture data is never opened.
No re-compression
Screenshots and "save as" re-compress a JPEG, which adds new blur and artifacts. Here, the same picture data is copied unchanged.
Same size and sharpness
Width, height and every pixel stay identical. Only the file gets a little smaller.

What this tool can and cannot do
An honest look, so you know what to expect.
Can do
- Remove EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC and comments
- Remove embedded C2PA content credentials
- Work on JPG, PNG and WebP
- Keep pixels, color profile and rotation intact
- Clean many files and download a ZIP
Cannot do
- Change the picture itself. It only edits file metadata
- Remove what is visible in the image, such as faces or signs
- Remove invisible watermarks that are part of the pixels
- Hide how an image was made, since that cannot be done by editing metadata
- Open HEIC, GIF or AVIF files yet
Your photos never leave your device
The irony of a privacy tool that uploads your photos would be hard to beat. This one does not.
Processed locally
Reading, cleaning and packing happen inside your browser tab.
No server copy
There is no upload step, so there is no copy of your photos to delete later.
Originals untouched
You always download a new -clean copy. The original file stays exactly as it is.

Questions people ask
Tap a question to see the answer.
What does this tool remove from my photos?
It removes EXIF data (GPS location, camera and phone model, lens, serial number, date and time), XMP, IPTC, JPEG comments, PNG text chunks and embedded C2PA content credentials. It keeps the color profile and JPEG rotation by default so your photo looks the same.
Does removing metadata reduce image quality?
No. The tool does not decode or re-compress the image. It reads the file structure and deletes only the metadata blocks, so the picture data is copied byte for byte. Every pixel stays identical.
Which image formats are supported?
JPG (JPEG), PNG and WebP. HEIC, GIF and AVIF are not supported yet.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Everything runs in your browser, so your photos never leave your device.
Does it remove GPS location from photos?
Yes. Phone photos often store the exact coordinates in EXIF data. The tool removes them and also shows you what location was found in each photo.
Can I see what metadata a photo contains?
Yes. After you add a photo, open Details under it to see what was found, such as location, camera model, software and dates, before you download the clean copy.
What are C2PA content credentials?
C2PA is a standard that embeds a signed record inside a file describing how it was made or edited. This tool removes that embedded record from JPG, PNG and WebP files, the same way it removes other metadata.
Does this hide that an image was made with AI?
No. It only edits file metadata. It cannot hide how an image was made, and it does not touch invisible watermarks or other signals that are part of the pixels themselves.
Will my photo turn sideways after cleaning?
Not by default. Many phones store rotation in EXIF data, so the tool keeps a minimal rotation tag in JPEG files. You can switch that option off if you prefer.
Will colors change after cleaning?
Not by default. The color profile is kept, so colors stay exact. If you turn that option off, some images can look slightly different on color-managed screens.
Can I clean many photos at once?
Yes. Add as many images as you like, then download them one by one or all together as a ZIP file.
Does it change my original file?
No. You download a new copy with -clean added to the name. Your original stays exactly as it is.
Do social networks already remove metadata?
Many large platforms remove some metadata when you upload, but behavior varies and you cannot see what they keep. Email, messaging apps, cloud links and forums may pass metadata along, so cleaning a photo yourself first is safer.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Any modern mobile browser works. Tap Choose images and select photos from your gallery. Some phones may share a copy that already has less metadata.
Is the tool free?
Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up and has no limit on the number of photos.
